The Old School House

BICESTER, OXFORDSHIRE

OXFORDSHIRE COTTAGE

When Katrina and Stuart bought their cottage, they knew it needed some TLC but struggled to find the time and confidence to take on the project. With full-time jobs keeping them busy, they worried about making costly mistakes and missing the chance to create their dream home.

We worked together to uncover their personal style using colour psychology, which gave them the confidence to make bolder decisions. I created new layouts and schemes to maximise space, bringing in a striking, colourful vision while staying true to the charm and character of the original cottage.

Now, every inch of their home works hard for them. Clever storage, carefully designed spaces, and a decor that reflects who they are have turned their cottage into something uniquely theirs—far beyond what they imagined they could achieve on their own.

Using muted colours for furnishings balances and contrasts with the strong teal blue walls and sofa with oak shelving, floor and stone fireplace. This balance helped us create the perfect blend of striking and colourful yet relaxing and peaceful.

LET THERE BE LIGHT!

Opening up the two rooms was not only practical but offered up more views through the house and natural light.

PROJECT REVIEW

“Kate really helped us with our renovation and with flair for design and colour, our house has been transformed into a home. She understood our style and encouraged us to make boulder decisions with colour. She also supported the design process through lockdown, helping coordinate furniture orders with an ever changing build schedule.”
